Want to be more productive?

This blog is a review of the book, What’s Best Next by Matt Perman. If you are not familiar with him, look him up.

This book is a must read. Right now, while writing this book review, I am only about a third of the way through the book. However, with what I have read, I can honestly write this review and say you need to get this book. Matt Perman does an amazing job of getting to the point of how the Gospel should “transform the way we get things done.” As a follower of Christ, the Gospel should be transforming everything in our lives, but many times, we let our productivity and getting things done sometimes slip. But, if we are being transformed by the Gospel, then everything we do will be impacted by it.

This book would be beneficial to anyone who struggles to be productive in their lives, whether it is at work, home, or school. What’s Best Next is a book that will help you see why you should be productive as well as giving you tips and processes on how to be productive. Matt does not simply speak from his own perspective but also took time to interview business leaders, pastors, theologians while writing this book and as you read it, you can tell writing this book was a huge task. However, Matt does not skimp out on anything and really pours his heart into it and what results is a book that even a non-Christian would benefit from reading. This book touches on theology and philosophy, all the while not losing the reader in being too deep.

I just finished reading through the chapter speaking on “How the Gospel makes us productive” and as I look back through the chapter, I see so many things I underlined on each page and many pages are earmarked for me to go back to when I am done. Actually, as I look through the whole book, there is hardly a page where I do not have something underlined or bracketed or marked. That is how much of this book stands out and is pure gold for anyone looking to get more productive at what they are doing.

So, if you are looking for a challenge on being productive or looking to learn how to be more productive, What’s Best Next needs to be on your list of books to purchase. Matt Perman has influenced my life and I have never met him, and only known of him since I received this book, but I can definitely tell my life will be impacted for the better because of this book. Go get a copy, grab a pen or pencil, a notebook and some coffee and get reading. You will be glad you did.
